🛥️ 3M Marine Aluminum Restoration and Polishing Solution, 09020, 18 oz Review

Restoring the bottom of my 88ft aluminum boat. Used a drill buff and the results are amazing. This product brought radiance and brilliance back to showroom standards. Be careful if using next to a painted or foiled surface as the buffing pad can remove the paint/vinyl. Luckily I will wrap the boat once the buffing is done so no damage no foul.

I have used this according to directions but I have had to go over my boat about 5 times with clean buffing pads after use just removing all the smoky black with polish. So it works, but it takes VERY time to get it looking right. I also went through way more buffing pads than I have because I had to do so many cleaning cycles.

I called the Marina that supports 3M polishes and they approved the polish without reservation. Love the fact that it has removed years of oxidized aluminum and restored my engine to its original shine. Marina was right about applying and polishing to a chrome shine. Will always be in my office for cleaning and polishing.

I use this to clean, restore and polish our antique aluminum boat with 3" and 5" polishers. The boat has been in bad weather for many years so it took a lot of care and maintenance (and greasing the elbows) to bring it back to a nice shine. Using multiple grits of wet/dry sandpaper works wonders! Polishing this boat will be a never ending process and it will be my favorite product.

I am restoring an old airflow and decided to try this because all the other 3M products I have tried have been amazing. Highly oxidized aluminum shone, but it took a lot of effort. I also used a mother aluminum polish and the mothers did a much better job with less effort. You get a big bath, but it's worth the extra work. I will not order anymore.

This is not for heavily painted or corroded aluminum. There are other products for that. But if the metal is clean and smooth enough, it cleans and polishes well. But don't expect miracles - nothing replaces hard work and engineering. Once the metal is clean enough, it is actually polished and made to shine. But it will not return anything heavily oxidized. It's not his job.

This product is more suited to very light polishing of aluminum and does a good job of that, but if you plan to bring aluminum back to a shine you need blush and a good Rim polish to go with it.
