Perfect - buy this if you want real stopping power in a non slip tape that sticks very well. 3M customer service helped me select this option for my slippery ladder needs. It's real sand inside, no plastic parts to wear out. It stays slightly whitish but then dissolves after a few days as the gooey glue comes into contact with the surface (it also helps hold on when applying) making it less noticeable.

This strap was purchased to provide traction on the teak steps leading to my sailboat gangway. I've tried a few other tread tapes in the 15 years that I've owned a boat and so far I've had good luck with the other 3M Safety Walk tape options. I was looking for something that would work just as well as other 3M protective tape and look a little better on freshly polished teak than dark gray tape.
