FAKE ANTENNA - BUYER ALERT

I received a fake antenna instead of a real one. I knew something was wrong because it performed much worse than my standard UV-5R antenna. It ended up on my radio and trying to get it out showed it was fake the entire time. Don't buy this unless you need a useless antenna.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • High price

The jury hasn't decided yet. This is the 42" version and may be too long for the 2m range. It's well received, there's practically no difference to my 15-inch Comet. At this length, it weighs about the same as a walkie-talkie with an extended lithium battery. The metal band inside appears to hold the kink once opened, although this doesn't currently leave a permanent kink in the antenna. Just another month or so. I no longer keep it folded.

  • Pleasant

  • Nothing here

Poor quality antenna

For context: My order was FBA and was sold to ABBREE. I received the antenna in good condition and tried it with the cable (function tested and low impedance) with my Baofeng radios. In trying to use this antenna at the base as the best range and quality scanner and without having to change antennas for the 1.25 meter band, I found that this was not enough. I could barely get a 200 watt FM station (non-commercial music) 1 mile from my house without a lot of tweaking, and the NOAA weather…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel

  • Not bad

THIS IS COUNTERFEIT - BUYER WARNING - THIS IS COUNTERFEIT

I bought this antenna last year and found out about it too late. It recently started cracking at the edges after taking it on a hike so many times and it broke. After it split I looked inside and saw that part of the antenna was literally empty, there were two measuring tapes in there and no wires! Be careful with this antenna, it's useless! I also tried removing the antenna and the plastic grommet just popped out when I unscrewed it, so it looks like this without it. Not very close to the…

Pros
  • Connector Type: SMA Jack Gain: 5.0dBi.
Cons
  • silent

This antenna is great unless you have a UV-S9X3

Bought this antenna for a Baofeng UV-S9X3 tri band radio so I don't have to carry two rubber cleat antennas and change them frequently. The antenna itself works great for the price and has an SWR of <2 at 4-6W (varies by band) on all bands I've tested it with (with a tail you can connect it to the UV-S9X3, but that's obviously impractical for EDC). It won't fit the UV-S9X3 without some sort of adapter, and the idea of using an adapter to attach an already large antenna to a portable device…

Pros
  • AR-152A is an upgraded CS tactical antenna with more bend and better signal.
Cons
  • Low maintainability

Better than Nagoya 771

Well, it's not practical to mount directly to the top of the radio, but it works better than a regular bolt. I was able to work fairly well with the repeater about 50 miles from my 8 watt Tenway UV-5r Pro while the whip and even my magnetic mount whip couldn't get in. I then tried it with the antenna folded down and was still able to activate the repeater, but the other people at the repeater hardly understood me. Still better than the Whip 771. By the way, I also put a tiger tail counterpoise…

ABBREE tri-band foldable antenna - compact, robust and easy to deploy

The quality of this ABBREE foldable antenna, whether dual-band or tri-band, is undeniable and real impressive. And while the descriptive adjective "transparency" required on the review form for this product is a real headache given that this is a ham radio antenna and not a piece of underwear, in my opinion this antenna makes a world of difference. It is well built, of solid construction with quality materials, and performs well as a tri-band antenna on all three bands, although multi-band…
