45043 Precision Sport Shifter Review

As a shifter. I think the mounting plate could be a little better designed, but overall it's really good. Short and smooth.

2006 Pontiac GTO Installing it I had to bevel the floor track, cut the rubber boot front to back and flip it. The holes line up well and slide well right out of the box. I have chosen not to use centering springs. It rattles in some positions, which doesn't bother me because it's the quietest noise my car makes.

Wow, this switch is great. I didn't install the springs because it seemed like too much work and it was 100 degrees outside. Installing this switch is the best 2.5 hours I have ever spent on my car. I bought this to replace the cheap switch I got for Christmas. The quality is much better and the shifter doesn't hang around. The predecessor was universally designed and constantly disintegrated when shifting gears. This one could bounce better in the middle, but it comes with springs to make it stiffer. I have to hand them in later. One thing should be noted. You will need an OEM shifter base for installation. I'm glad I still had mine since I rebuilt the transmission.

Installed on my GTO. I've read a number of reviews on forums and all I've heard was bad information and I've been told that the only short throw switches you can buy are in the $500-$600 range . Don't waste money on them. This derailleur greatly reduces the jump in shifting and gives the car that race car look it so desperately needs (just make sure you install the extra centering springs). Got this as a Christmas present from my wife, finally got around to installing it. First, let me walk you through the installation process. Short story: This derailleur does not come out of the box and will not match your transmission's shift pattern. The aluminum base plate is not processed correctly. Luckily I have a milling machine at work and was able to drill new holes and fix the problem. If you don't have that comfort level, most likely this layer won't work for you or you just won't like it because it's not in the center of the layer pattern.
