Description of B+W 77mm Clear Multi-Resistant Coating (007M) Lens Filter

This filter uses our standard B+W F-Pro filter mount, which has a front accessory thread and is made of brass. MRC by B+W is not only an extraordinarily effective multiple layer coating, it is also harder than glass, so that it protects filters from scratches, and it is also water and dirt repellent, thus facilitating filter maintenance. Manufactured from Water-White Schott Glass.

But very good filter.

I was excited when I first got it but I opened it and was disappointed. While the packaging was certainly factory sealed, the filter itself was dirty and needed a thorough cleaning before all the dirt was removed. I would expect this from the $5 Sunpak filter you see at Walmart, but absolutely not from anything over $30 from a German optical company. For such a price one would expect a "perfect" product from a German optician. Once I managed to get it completely clean and in front of the…

Great idea, great product but not without problems :-(

I chose a straight glass "filter" instead of UV fogging etc. I really didn't want anything between a great lens and mine put purpose. I really think this filter is a great way to protect a valuable lens. I really like this product in that regard. But I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because I don't find the filter to be the best A lens cleaning solution (eg (e.g. from Zeiss and the like) leaves streaks. You really have to wipe the filter surface to get rid of it. And I have a problem with…

B&W is one of the leading lens manufacturers and this is no exception.

I have bought a lot of so called multi-coated clear lenses which have fogged up out of the box and become scratched when held up to a light source and looked through. However, this lens is crystal clear and will stand up to viewing through a light source. It's actually a neutral lens, so it doesn't affect the images you take at all. The main and main function is one of the many ways to protect your camera lens. Replacing a black and white lens costs a lot less than replacing a camera lens when…

Excellent build quality and clarity

Luckily I have yet to test if this filter can withstand damage/protect my very expensive lens. But I can talk about its clarity and high build quality. I've used this on my Canon 24-105mm f/4 lens for a couple of shots and literally can't tell the difference between the lens off and the lens on. I've extensively studied side-by-side comparisons in different lighting conditions and can't find any significant difference between shots taken with and without this lens. So A+ for clarity. It also…

Avoid fakes! 2021 Updated B+W Buying Tip!

I am a well known professional photographer and I "thought" that I was a very savvy consumer. Wow, through a lot of research I found out that most of the best B+W and Hoya filters I've bought in the last 15 years were fake. Here's what I recently discovered to make sure there are real ones here at Revain: HOW TO RECOGNIZE A COUNTERFEIT: Some counterfeits are easy to spot. The typography of the inner ring is white instead of gold as previously used by B+W. Now the counterfeiters are starting to…
