Compact Screen for SBCs

Based on my experience, this compact IPS screen is a great addition to my single board computer projects. The image quality is superb, and the HDMI connection makes it easy to set up. The compact size is perfect for portable projects, and the screen is durable enough to withstand everyday use. However, the price may be a bit steep for some hobbyists on a budget.

The image quality on the screen is dark and difficult to see

The screen is dark and although the backlight is difficult to see, the touch screen is also not very sensitive and does not always work. I ended up buying another 7 inch touch screen made for a raspberry or other mini pc and it works much better. I'm just leaving this one for an emergency.

Crisp and responsive IPS touchscreen that pairs well with Raspberry Pi.

Overall I am satisfied with the performance of the Waveshare 7" IPS touchscreen with a resolution of 1024x600. It works well as an interface for Octoprint such as OctoScreen. Backlight switch, it's not easily accessible when mounted in the case. However, there is a simple mod that allows you to turn the backlight on and off via the GPIO - if you're prone to easy soldering, or even pair a motion sensor around the turning on the backlight when needed it would be wiser to integrate a pull-out pen…
