It's a waste of money

From the moment I opened the package each of the discs detached from the substrate within 5 seconds of use. It looks like the glue will just peel off. I barely touched the work surface. Never buy again.

The sanding pad flies off the backing fabric

I agree with what others have written - the sanding pad suddenly flies off the backing fabric. I'm not sure if the glue just gets too hot. Definitely - not recommended and I have to be careful when using them.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Modern

Poor pad adhesion: falls apart

Glue holding paper to pad is terrible! The pad heats up within a minute and comes off leaving adhesive on the bear metal I just welded on. I thought maybe the gasket was bad, but after a few I just gave up. More work than it's worth. AVOID!

  • Free for educational purposes

Now the problem is with the adhesive

As others have pointed out the adhesion of the grinding wheel to the Roloc backing is poor. I've been using them for many years and up to 2020 they've been great. Last time I bought two packs and both had problems with the clutch. This made me go through the discs about twice as fast. I hope ABN can fix this. I'd love to keep using them, but apparently the composition has changed which is causing these issues. In earlier sets, this problem rarely occurred.

Works great when properly tightened.

Some noticed that the discs didn't hold. First try tightening the washer onto the shaft. If it stays loose, turn the pulley counter-clockwise, apply light pressure starting where it was loosened and let it thread backwards one thread (about 2 threads total), then tighten again and check if it is stuck. This has worked for me on a few drives I've tried and the drives stay in place if they are in the correct thread. Great product and value.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Better glue can be used

I use these grinding wheels to finish car sheet metal. My latest project is replacing rusty floors on a vintage truck. The discs work well and the abrasive wear is about the same as other brand discs I've used. I'm having trouble with the adhesive holding the grinding wheels to the Roloc mount. As the discs heat up from the friction of grinding, the adhesive dissolves and the discs fly away, sucking the Roloc plug into the mandrel. This only happens after prolonged use, but it shouldn't happenโ€ฆ

Like the big ones, but smaller and swivelling. Hooray!

These are great! I really liked their large version for 4" or 5" grinders. Imagine my surprise and delight when I found them in the form of Roloc discs. I ordered both the 2" and 3" versions but had already used up all 2" versions and had to order more. My only problem is inertia. Sometimes when the tool stops the disc keeps spinning and spins around the tool. Not a big deal, just be careful when you stop. I need to find a few runaways and disappeareds, but that's just for fun. They're greatโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions

Rapid failure and sudden danger!

I usually only write a review when I really like something, but sometimes the junk is so bad that I have to warn other buyers. I bought these 2" Roloc type 36 grit grinding wheels to use on my Milwaukee die grinder to grind down some spot welds (.024 wire). I ruined 5 wheels in 10 minutes, no because the sandpaper was worn out but because the glue that holds the sandpaper to the backing breaks down when the discs are heated and the sandpaper comes loose at 10,000rpm I could only find 3 out of 5
