I've used them to mark keys. Use a really hard surface as an anvil. A concrete floor will do, but a countertop will not. Hit it with a fairly heavy hammer (a carpenter's hammer will do) and leave a clean impression every time. The keys are made of fairly soft metal. Some steels are quite hard (e.g. stainless steel) and do not deform easily to make an impression. On impact, hold the cube firmly and perpendicular to the surface.

The stamps were exactly what I wanted. They worked perfectly. However - the box they came in was torn and taped together - very sticky. Half of the stamps were covered in red plastic residue and had to be cleaned before use, indicating they were used on a trial basis and returned. At the very least, they could be cleaned and properly repackaged before resale. A very amateurish move.

The quality of these matrices is poor and unsatisfactory at best. Everything looked promising at first glance, but my experience with this particular product suggests otherwise. The imprint of the stamp is barely perceptible after one or two blows with a hammer. In fact, I had to stamp the key over TEN times to make a decent impression. If you press the same spot multiple times, the markings left on the key will begin to expand and expand, distorting the impression with each subsequent press…
