The contacts were badly rusted, the cap had to be replaced. The old one lasted over 5 years and was still good, but I swapped it out as part of a setup. Glad you kept the old one!

Although they look very nice and you can see sparks flying, they don't last long. 6 months and the corrosion is crazy! Although it still sparkles. I will miss popping the hood late at night and seeing my own light show.

It's really cool to watch the rotor from the spots on the cover because you can see the spark every time it happens, so it's pretty fun.
