Stuck Hard Brake Pedal

Replaced original vacuum pump on 2014 Silverado 5.3 80,500 miles. The brake pedal was very stiff and the brake pedal travel was minimal. The brakes were basically 0% or 100%. Replacing the pump was a chore but worth the savings and getting the brakes working properly again! AC Delco spare parts at prices below the dealers and in the spare parts warehouse!

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Problem

Good replacement for the stock pump

Put this on my 2015 Silverado to fix a hard brake pedal/service brake problem. It took me a while (4.5 hours) but I made it myself using basic household tools! The brakes work much better at low revs, when reversing or in traffic. FYI, you don't have to drain the oil, but it will leak out of the engine a little when it's removed.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Product is as advertised, works great!

The product fully corresponds to the description. This was for my 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 with a 5.3 engine. Didn't make any noise, didn't break, I just did it as a preventive measure as I've heard stories on the forums about removing the engine when it explodes. I have basic hand tools and this took me about 3 hours. The vacuum pump comes with gasket and bolts, again a perfect component and I ran the truck with the new pump for several days with no problems.

Pros
  • High marks for hold and durability from testers
Cons
  • No

Pneumatic ratchet is a must

Amazing quality and OEM for my 2017 SUBURBAN. I had the same problem with the brakes. GM will not honor the warranty because my car has over 72,000 miles. I installed it myself, which is a bit fiddly. I would recommend an air ratchet to loosen the 4 bolts holding it in place. Very little space to work. It took me about 3 hours to do this. After installation I tested it and everything is fine. Went to the dealer for a free brake software update, no problems since.

Pros
  • Handy
Cons
  • New competitors have arrived

OEM part, easy installation and big improvement

BLUF: OEM part, no installation or product issues in the last 3 months I've had every tell-tale sign of a vacuum pump failure for my 2016 GMC. Sierra (90,000 miles) so I decided to replace it BEFORE it blew up and caused a whole bunch of other problems. After ordering I got more tired that it could be fake or aftermarket but I was pleasantly surprised when I received it and it was 100% OEM. A NOTICE. This is the end of the product review. From here information on installation and tips. Can't…

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • So so
