Now the fan will run at all speeds

I had to cut off a couple of the protrusions sticking out of the resistor after that it fit perfectly. The instructions wanted me to cut a bigger hole. This is not required. Simply cut off the four protruding tabs and secure with screws. Now my fan works great at all speeds.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Requires an outlet

Original heater OEM

I received the item very quickly, AC Delco OEM part, it worked as advertised but for some reason my truck stopped blowing into the front vents which I am aware of This problem is because it happened before (the vacuum went up), but it was normal before the fan stopped working, so I'm not sure if it has anything to do with how I installed it, and certainly no problem with the detail itself.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others

Ok product but had to change the hole to fit.

Works fine but hole in fan housing had to be modified to fit. I had to find someone who had the same problem and posted the solution. If you know how to work and have access to all the tools, then everything is fine, but be prepared for difficulties. I expected to pull the old one out and put this one in, but it wasn't an easy task.

Blown resistor due to fan motor failure

This purchase replaced the original unit in a 1998 Chevrolet Astro. This required the plastic ears on the resistor block to be modified to fit my car, but I was expecting something this small. My delicate task was to replace the fan motor, the cause of the failure of the original resistor. After replacing the faulty motor along with a new resistor and relay, I got hot!

  • Alright!

Genuine GM Parts 15-80550 Heater and Air Conditioner Fan Motor Resistor

(Genuine Parts GM 15-80550) NOTE: You will need to trim some to fit, you will need to remove various parts such as the headlight and water tank for better access and to work better with other cuts. It works great and fixes my speed bug (high speed not working) now works properly in my 1997 Chevrolet Astro 2wd with rear AC.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Easy exchange. I recommend ordering a replacement plug that is .

Fits perfectly on my 2005 Astro. Easy exchange. I recommend ordering a spare connector to connect to this resistor, as well as having heat shrink tubing and soldering tools on hand to connect it in place. If your fan has never been changed, maybe it's time to do so. An old fan with bad bearings can burn and/or melt the orange wire connector. Replacing the fan, connector, and resistor takes about an hour or two, and you don't have to worry about running out of heat or AC power.

Pros
  • High quality workmanship
Cons
  • Some little things

Installing EZ in blower motors

OK this fixed my dead "high" speed setting that I've been living with on my 1998 Astro for the last 2 years. The setup was surprisingly EZ. Simply remove the 2 grommets holding the washer and coolant reservoirs (which appear to be fused together). Then disconnect only one hose from the cooling tank for even easier access (leave the remaining hoses if you can). The resistor is about 10 inches from the top of the tanks and you can easily see the electrical connections going to it. 2 small screws…

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Having trouble

My "No high speed " problem has been solved!

Sometimes it has to be learned HARD, and while I consider myself a pretty good "troubleshooter" I wouldn't rack my brains the FIRST time. ' and am wondering why my newly purchased (front) fan switch for our 1998 GMC Safari (like the Chevy Astro) still didn't work on 'HIGH'. It seems that this "resistor switch" is the culprit in some cases as to why all 4 fan speeds are not working. Replaced this switch (moderate difficulty as it didn't want to just "slip" and had to be removed first Windshield…
