So far so good with hard drive case

I haven't used it particularly hard and only had it for a short time so durability unknown but so far so good. BTW, the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I just don't feel I have more to give it the highest possible rating, so my 4 stars shouldn't be interpreted as something particularly negative will.

Pros
  • Finally bought
Cons
  • disappears

Look cool, work great

Our TV studio needs more and more disk space so we recently bought a couple of these drives to try out. They're perfect for the job: quiet, easy to store, and they have kind of a cool, futuristic, vintage feel.

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Really happy with the product

I just received this hard drive that I haven't used and used it to use it! Very satisfied with the product. So easy together. I'm currently using a 1TB drive that I have lying around my apartment right now. I actually had the other one full so it was really great to have a ride without having to pay 100 shillings for another TB!

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Almost never

Firewire 400 required This case was delivered.

Not the most attractive case and the light shines brighter than necessary. However, I needed a case with a FireWire 400 port, and for the price I'm happy with that.

Pros
  • Don't waste your time
Cons
  • High price

Sturdy, well-made outer case

Excellent outer case. Installed the drive quickly and easily. Worked beautifully. The case is strong enough to withstand heavy wear and tear and strong enough to withstand cat attacks. Very satisfied with the product.

Pros
  • Easy-to-read control panel
Cons
  • Some cons

It works as intended

Received this today to purchase the Macally Hi-Speed eSATA/FireWire/USB 2.0 Storage Enclosure for a 3.5" SATA G -Replacing the S350SUAB2 hard drive (silver) was supposed to solve the problem with FireWire, but it didn't (see my review on this page). Although I drop the FW 800 with this case, unlike Macally, Acomdata at least boots from the FW 400. Not the prettiest or easiest case to install, but not that difficult either if you have ANY mechanical skills. Seems to work pretty cool, but we'll…

Pros
  • Addressing 48-bit logical blocks
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Not the tallest of the buildings.

Nice case but not as compact. Its aluminum case handles heat very well in fanless operation. It is very easy to install and attach the hard drive to the case. But what use are they if the whole case is mounted on plastic ends. The inferior plastic back holds the entire heavy 3.5-inch drive. And the screws are attached to the plastic core. That said, don't over-tighten it, it will remove the threads in the plastic core and that's it. The screw keeps turning. Here's the important thing. I…

Pros
  • Accommodates a SATA hard drive
Cons
  • Nothing here

Great case as long as it lasts considering its limitations

I've owned this case since February 2011. it: Case designed only for low power drives. This means larger drives in the 2GB region and above won't be used even if they were, possibly with a firmware update. The FW400's connectivity ports were the reason I bought this case and people who had it said they were reliable. And between February 2011 and July 2012 it was reliable with a 1TB hard drive. For some, that's good lifespan without a disk enclosure. In fact, in this span of time, you can rest…

Pros
  • Nearly silent operation with no fan

Best Firewire 400 Enclosure I've found Price

I've tried 4 different USB/Firewire SATA enclosures and this is by far the best. I had no problems for 6 months using it with my old Mac Mini and Ibook G4. If you have a newer Mac, get Firewire 800 (1394b), otherwise it's great for my purposes, and Firewire 400 is much faster than USB for bulk file transfers. Installation is very simple, the aluminum case keeps the drive cool and is sealed so there is no vibration or increased drive noise. The dual color status LED is a plus, not just a…
