Well, for the second time, the 1st Corps failed!

The name says it all, I have no problem with Acomdata's second eSATA/USB 2.5" SATA HD Enclosure, no problem. Up to 140 MB/s with this connection method, but there has to be a limitation Apparently, this Acomdata system requires the USB system to be connected to the case along with the eSATA cable. So to use eSATA you also use USB, obviously for power. Now I have a fairly expensive one (about $65 retail). ) a 3.5" USB/FireWire/eSATA enclosure that I use to back up two of my large PCs in theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy to Use
Cons
  • Quick Start Guide

Great solid body!

I've had several other hard drive enclosures but this is simply the best I've had. I'll start by fitting your drive into the case, which is very easy. First remove 2 screws from one of the end plates so you can slide out the internal circuit board that you are attaching the drive to. Then place the drive on the board, plug it into the SATA connector and fasten the drive to the board with the 4 screws (included). Finally, slide the drive board back into the case and screw the end plate back onโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Hard drive enclosure occupies one SATA hard drive High speed USB 2.0 and eSATA 48-bit LUN addressing Quiet operation Hot swappable
Cons

More expensive, but worth it for many

I used to buy USB enclosures for 2.5 inch hard drives to recover data from a dead man's hard drive refurbish laptops. Since I didn't have any long-term plans for such cases, I always bought the cheapest thing I could find and chose something better the last time I applied. This suitcase meets all requirements perfectly. I upgraded a nearly full 120GB Toshiba drive in my Dell Inspiron laptop to a 500GB drive from Western Digital and needed a case that could recognize that much capacity. This box

Pros

Cons

Looks good. USB 2.0 works fine. eSATA works fine. After upgrading 3 laptops in the family to SSD, I have several 750GB 2.5" HD laptops. I also just received a new Netgear Nighthawk X4S R7800 router. It features 2 USB 3.0 ports and 1 eSATA port for connectivity. external hard drives. So I figured it would be a good idea to recycle unused hard drives. I bought a USB 3.0 enclosure and this one. This is mainly used to check the eSATA connection. When it arrived I was happy to say HD installation is

Well, for the second time, the 1st Corps failed!

The name says it all as I have no problems with a second eSATA/USB 2.5" SATA HD enclosure from Acomdata, no problem at all .. With eSATA in the mix, I've seen up to 140MB/s throughput with this connection method, but a caveat needs to be made here. Apparently with this Acomdata system, the USB system needs to be connected to the case with eSATA cable to use eSATA, so also use USB, presumably for power. Now I have a fairly expensive (approx (two of these cases, one per pc) and these cases do NOT

Pros
  • Acomdata TNGXXXUSE-BLK Tango USB 2.0 and eSATA Portable 2.5" Enclosure - Black Enclosure
Cons
  • Infinitely Sluggish
