I recommend replacing the old cabin filters. Controversy grew on the one I replaced. This one fits and fits perfectly and has cleaned the air in my car and also reduced odors.

Airflow direction not marked on filter or directions. There is a part attached to the filter that didn't fit well and kept falling off during installation. In the end I just had to remove this piece as it would never stay in place.

Glove box and back panel need to be removed. Ten minutes and Phillip's head. Be prepared for anything when you haul out the old one and keep the vacuum in reserve. I'm glad I did it myself because it would probably cost too much. I will be switching a lot more often now knowing how easy it is.

Relatively easy to assemble. I bet the dealer will charge $100 for this job. The mount on the bottom of the filter didn't seem to want to go into the filter so I threw it away. Subaru installs screws in hard-to-reach places. YouTube is great for watching just to get an idea of the process

When I took out the cabin filter on my Forester I was surprised to see all the leaves and moss in the filter. I ordered this filter and it was easy to install, the arrow is pointing up and not in the airflow direction. Tried the other way, doesn't work. After reading the instructions again, I found that the arrow points to the installation. The hardest part was removing the glove box, 9 screws. Subaru rebuilds.

Bought this filter after getting "sticker shock" at Advance Auto Parts. They want $40 for their filter and it's not even a charcoal filter! Took me 10 minutes including watching a YouTube video on how to replace it on my 2008 SUBARU Forester! The old filter was completely messed up! Looks like some kind of rodent lived there and it never changed! Clogged filter THAT'S HEAVY FOR YOUR AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR! COOL AIR blows out of the vents like never before. Very happy with this purchase!
