Description of 💡 Adafruit Trinket - Mini Microcontroller with 5V Logic [ADA1501]: Enhance Your Project with Compact Power!

ATtiny85 on-board, 8K of flash, 512 byte of SRAM, 512 bytes of EEPROM. USB bootloader with a nice LED indicator looks just like a USBtinyISP so you can program it with AVRdude (with a simple config modification)and/or the Arduino IDE (with a few simple config modifications). Mini-USB jack for power and/or USB uploading, you can put it in a box or tape it up and use any USB cable for when you want to reprogram. Power with either USB or external output (such as a battery) - it'll automatically switch over. 5 GPIO - 2 shared with the USB interface. The 3 independent IO pins have 1 analog input and 2 PWM output as well. The 2 shared IO pins have 2 more analog inputs and one more PWM output.

EXCELLENT small microcontroller

EXCELLENT small microcontroller. However, you have to keep in mind that these things don't have a ton of RAM, so they're meant for REALLY small projects. 8KB fills up pretty quickly when trying to use multiple libraries!

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Low maintenance

Nice mini board. Not Uno!

This board is a good value for hobby projects. Please ensure your design conforms to the reduced pin count of this board and consider the pin count consumed by USB interfaces and possibly I2C and/or SPI interfaces. Adafruit has beautiful graphics showing all the characteristics of each pin (color coded).

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Minor issues

Fun trinket!: Single board computer

A fun little (pardon the pun) trinket. With a little work I was able to program it as a USB HID device. Worked great as an April Fool's joke. From time to time and randomly pressing Caps Lock, Number Lock, Scroll Lock and Windows Key + L which locks the computer. :-) Looks like you could use it for many other small projects as well.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Weak set

Small and cheap

It's cool because they're super small and also super cheap. However, note that these boards do not have a serial port, so using serial.write is not an option. Also, just before uploading, you need to press a button on the board to put the board into a mode that prepares it to upload a new Arduino sketch.

Pros
  • Regular price
Cons
  • A few little things

So very disappointed. do not buy

So disappointed. I got it based on the good reviews and it broke! The bootloader did not start. I went through the manual and fixed the problems on the board. Nothing worked. I reported it and got a second one. Same problem! The bootloader has not been activated. All I could find is that I need to buy another board to load the bootloader. Why should I do this? I bought the best board. I would only use these. However. these come back. Really disappointed in ada for their quality and lack of…

A very useful board. - Computers and Accessories

These are great little Arduino boards. I was able to very easily create my own countdown clock with an attached piezo buzzer and power it off of a cell phone backup battery. Beware of people saying they don't work, they take about 10 minutes of special setup. They do not have a built in serial programmer and many can be programmed directly via USB. You need to install custom boards via a URL in your settings and also install a dedicated custom programmer. then you have to press the button on…

Pros
  • Awesome for me
Cons
  • Confused

This was a great and quick purchase. I was in dire need of one of the knick knacks to help with a local high school tech club project. In particular, they do an excellent job of driving Adafruit Neo pixels, controlling LEDs, reading button presses, and other small tasks you might need for quick and easy projects. It's amazing that this thing works well with a tiny LiPo battery. Remember that "serial port" is not a serial port: once you prime the computer and then press the button on the fob…
