The fan is very loud. I could probably live with that, but the pace hasn't slowed down. I put a USB 1200 fan under the router and the temperature dropped 10 degrees. I removed this product from my outer case and the temperature dropped another 5 degrees thanks to the 120mm fan.

Great little device, my processor dropped 30% and the 2.4 and 5GHz radios dropped about 20%. You can hear it when it's on on the Max, but if you're streaming video or music you won't hear it at all. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to double the lifespan of their router.

Perfect fit for Asus Ax 11000 I like it just not worth 5 stars, fan only pushes back to pull, it's top mounted pulls heat from above, does not press , also the fan does not blow hard enough, just think it could be better, frankly it seems cheaply made

Got this as a cart filler and it does exactly what it says on the tin, 95% of users will never need this type of cooling as these routers -Chips work up to 120c. My ac88u went from about 80c to 59-63c with a silent fan, ax88u 50-54c, but it can get very noisy and approach the max but you never need it. as it causes more dust. Every week or two you will need to brush over the top. I guess I play around with it and turn on the fan when I get bored.

Fits perfectly but doesn't cool the router much unfortunately. A small USB/battery fan used to pull air through the device from the top worked better. ASUS should buy them in bulk and put them in these routers. The thing works great at my temperature, we're 78-82°C all the time. After installation and only one working fan, they barely audibly dropped to 58C!. A temperature drop of 20°C is great and will definitely extend the life of your router. Great product, one of the few that does exactly what it says on the tin. If you have a GT-AC 2900, I recommend buying it. I can't speak for other versions, but I'm willing to bet they're just as good.

I've found that if a router or modem lasts more than 3 years, the cost of the fans is worth the investment. I ALWAYS buy my telecom equipment, not rent it. I've invested in a good Asus AC88U router so I wanted it to stay cool so it wouldn't freeze. I haven't done this before and my router usually fails after 2-4 years. Talking about crashes, they don't die, they just start doing weird things, then I reset and flash, and after a short while the device starts behaving strangely, freezes, stops…
