A charger that lets you know what it's doing

I had a smaller 4 amp pack but it wouldn't charge a badly drained 12v battery - it charged it as a 6v battery detected. This charger with 7.2A there is no such problem. The battery was charged without any problems. It displays the battery voltage and charging current during use, so you can see what's going on (BatteryTender doesn't). This charger works with standard lead-acid (SLA) and modern gel-matte (AGM) batteries.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Some difficulties

If you need a LiPo charger get this

Based on some reviews I was a bit skeptical about this charger. Let me tell you that you will not be disappointed. I have 12V 20Ah batteries that I use to power my electric fence. My battery was dead. Charged to zero in 3 hours. It starts at 7 amps and when it gets almost full it drops to 3 amps to complete it. Another nice feature is that it doesn't output until the battery is connected. Great product that really works as it's supposed to.

Doesn't charge a dead battery, just a dead one

Unfortunately I had to return this product as it failed to charge a 12v battery that had dropped below 6.7v May not need a charger, does for me no sense. But I'll admit it's common with all 'smart' chargers today. If they're so smart, why can't they charge a dead battery? Despite all that, this charger probably performs very well within its limitations, so the rating is a bit unfair. It is compact, lightweight and has a very easy to read display. My rating is based on how it (didn't) work for…

Some LiFePO4 batteries won't charge when completely empty

I really wanted to like this charger but there are a few caveats. I have a couple of LiFePO4 batteries that discharge to just under 11V when fully discharged. This charger refuses to start charging until I apply a 12V charge to the dead battery to "trick" it. Once started, it charges them normally. The "Pon" indicator showing the device is off is useless to English speakers, but it's a bit odd. I like the interchangeable connectors on the side of the battery. There is a star deduction for the…

Functionality lost in less than a year, updated at 11 months + 14 months

I've used this on everything from a large group 27 battery to a small motorcycle battery. It's easy to use, but I've found that it doesn't replace a regular charger for a dead battery. I stumbled upon this once and used an old charger to charge it until it could recognize it. Update December 2020 I bought it in January, about 11 months ago. It still works, but it is sometimes not possible to switch from seal wire to AGM battery mode or from car mode to motorcycle mode. The switches aren't…

Pretty good with a learning curve

so I had to charge the battery of a large SUV and it fully charged in about 36 hours which was according to the size chart that came with the instructions. Now I connected it to the Harley battery and the charger automatically recognized that it was a 6 volt battery as the voltage dropped to 7 volts and it couldn't charge to 12 volts. You need to put the charge in manual mode by pressing and holding the button for more than 3 seconds. This put the charger into 12 volt mode and I was on a…

Seems to work well in tools and equipment

I've only used this unit once to test and it seems to do everything it's supposed to do. A nice feature is a cable set that can be connected directly to the battery; They end with a connector that you can plug into your AimTom. A "weatherproof plug" is inserted into the cables leading to the battery to protect it when not in use for charging. The device has an LED screen that lets you know what's going on; It gives you battery status and lets you know when it's "full". The device will stop…

Maybe it's good? suitable for chargers

When mine arrived it was no longer in the original packaging and jumped around in the box with my other items. The first thing I noticed was that I didn't have alligator clips. Not that big of a problem as the kit still had fasteners for battery posts. I'm sure the dealer or manufacturer would replace them. At least I hope so. Connected the charging cable and set it to fast charging. It showed 7.1 amps, then 0.1 amps, then FULL. This happened in less than 5 seconds. I unplugged the charger…

If you don't agree, I'll eat the bug!

So how does this work with my Battleborn Lifepo4 battery? In short, it's like they were made for each other. Factory charge and input specs are identical to BB's recommendations, slow and fast charge will give you either 3.5 amps or 7.2 amps. Fast, slow or fast activation is different (read your manual) because to switch modes you have to disconnect the ground, select fast charge and then reconnect the ground, simple but strange. The manual is in English, very complete, informative and easy to…

Great Charger: Battery Chargers

I have a 1.5A Schumacher charger that I have used to charge and service various batteries. When I looked at the user manual it said that you shouldn't use it to charge large (car) batteries and if you do it can reduce its capacity. I've searched the internet to better understand why this might be the case. I've found that charging at a slow current of 1.5A shouldn't hurt the battery even if it's deeply discharged, so I still don't see why they don't recommend it. During my research, I learned…
