Works great when replacing some parts

Works great. I once exchanged the optical detector for the original one from my car. Many times cheaper than the Delco device, it costs the extra work. Don't throw away your original block!

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Without automation

It worked for 2 months and then died.

Worked normally for about 2 months and then broke down. I think I have a defective device. The block worked fine until it stopped. I have contacted the seller and am awaiting a response, I will update this review.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • There are disadvantages

Fast delivery good thing thing

I have no idea what the thing is for but my father in law said he needs it urgently. It arrived quickly, even though the UPS guy dumped it on the porch, everything looks fine. My father in law was thrilled when he saw this so I guess it's ok.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Something else

Works well. Time will tell

I bought this although Revain says it's not for my model. I have a 1994 Roadmaster 1/2. They converted it mid-year of production. I recently installed it. (It's a pain). Goes well, time will tell. The $100 I paid back then is way cheaper than the OEM Opti, it has the same internals as the OEM.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Buy Delphi instead: Manifolds and Parts

DO NOT BUY. Please save money and buy Delphi Optispark. They sent me two bad Optisparks in a row and the money will not be refunded. My '96 Corvette didn't work with any of the Optisparks, but as soon as I installed the Delphi component, the car started straight away and drove like a champ. The AIP part is rubbish and not worth the $100 gamble to see if you can get a good one. Use good parts for your LT-1 and it will last forever, my car has now done 218,000 miles and runs reliably.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Didn't work with manifolds or parts

Bought while my son's car was being restored as I stole his Opti to use on my other son's car. After assembling the car (it sat for about 6 months) it would not start. The optical sensor sent an intermittent signal for a while and then just stopped. When the car was assembled, the warranty period had already expired. I bought a new Cardone unit, installed it and everything is fine. I don't want to offend anyone, but be careful when buying. By the way, I've been an ASE certified technician for…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Some issues

By installing reliable, durable parts, I look good with my customers

I'm in business. We manufacture and repair Hot Rods and Street Rods. Obviously I'm constantly in search mode for reliable parts. Installing reliable, durable parts allows me to look good in the eyes of my customers. In the Corvette discussed here, we have diagnosed the failure of the original Optispark (GM block). I installed an MSD unit in hopes of improving the car. This block lasted 60 days. It was not damaged by water or a leaking water pump, as is often the case. MSD replaced it under…

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • outdated

First failure in 1200 miles; the second was inherently bad. AVOID!

I bought this Opti to replace one I thought was misfiring on my '94 Caprice station wagon. (This Opti didn't fix the misfires - the problem was a dirty coil output wire which I cleaned up.) It was set at 1200 miles and started making a rubbing noise. I took it off and the input shaft bearing was completely destroyed - there was a lot of play in it. How the machine continued to work (and surprisingly worked well) I don't know. Luckily the Opti was just under warranty so I ordered a replacement…

  • Confident
Cons
  • Mostly good but...
