and this pump seems to be doing its job well.

Used to replace the original unit on a 2000 Subaru Outback Wagon when I changed the timing belt. I would normally go for a Gates or OEM replacement, but I'm optimistic about buying it. I've driven the car a few miles and this pump seems to be doing its job well.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • too dull

According to Revane, it fits a 2006 WRX. It's not like this.

I'm pretty sure this water pump is only for non turbo engines as it only has 1 tube instead of 3. I didn't do enough research and believe Revain who says it will fit, but unfortunately I had to order WPF-023 for $60 (I think). It's a nice touch though and I think Subaru could use Aisin blocks in these cars.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No automatic

Pay attention to the position of the thermostat housing!

Accidentally bought for my 2006 Outback which has EJ253. This pump fits older engines with a straight down thermostat and unfortunately I didn't realize that later models started to use a horizontal thermostat housing. Still an incredibly high quality part, too bad I didn't get to use it.

Pros
  • Feels good
Cons
  • Not the best

Don't forget thread lock!

Works great. Replaced the water pump in my 1998 Subaru Forester even though the old one only had about 25,000 miles on the odometer. The professional mechanic apparently forgot to apply threadlock to the engine block bolts and so they began to loosen and were no longer watertight. Driven a few hundred kilometers with a new water pump, no problems.

  • New

Different blades but with good padding!

I bought a used Legacy with a slight coolant leak. It turned out to be the water pump seal. That's why I bought the water pump kit. The previous owner did all the timing belt/head gasket work but I didn't want to assume the old parts were good so I replaced the water pump and gasket. It comes with a metal crush seal. I liked that better than the particle pad that was on the pump that was already in the car. Because the seal particle was leaking. Everything went as it should! Works with no…

Pros
  • High test scores for grip and durability
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

Great pump (made in Japan)

Very good pump. Made in Japan and it shows. The impeller design is slightly different from the original Subaru pump, but after a few weeks of installation it works very well. It comes with a phenomenally good gasket and also includes a new thermostat gasket which is a great idea and a sign of a great product. The pump fits perfectly and is easy to assemble. The supplied rubber seal fits like a glove and does its job properly. Decided to purchase the pump separately rather than as part of a…

  • Great product
Cons
  • Something different

Subaru Legacy 2003 in Engine Cooling and Air Conditioning

When replacing the timing belt, I decided, like most people, to change the water pump so as not to do it again on the road. I bought this pump on the recommendation of a friend and it also comes with a gasket which the Gates pump does not have. This pump has a slightly different impeller design than the OEM model, but works just as well. The gasket is a real gem in this kit as it is quite strong and I wasn't worried about it leaking after installation. Do yourself a favor and put some RTV on…

Pros
  • Useful not only for its intended purpose
Cons
  • There are disadvantages
