We have a new sofa with decorative pillows. Most of the inner pillow is typical pillow filling, but for some reason they put feathers on the outside and sewed it up, so removing it isn't an option unless I want to pull the sewing machine out. This protective case worked great. Several days passed and nothing. During that time, I pulled at least a dozen from another pillow. I often use them to sit sideways on the edge of a sofa. I only ordered 1 to test. I just ordered 3 more.

Love the feel of these pillowcases and the fact that they are all cotton and are quiet. But I can't imagine that they help much against dust mites. If you hold the fabric in a well-lit room, the fabric will show holes and in some cases short streaks of holes. Since dust mites are only a few microns in size and not visible to the naked eye, I'm sure dust mites can easily get through visible holes.
