Good throwing body, some contamination

Affordable, fast shipping and good throwing body. However, when cleaning, I found a lot of heavy sediment at the bottom of the water bucket and worried about contamination in the clay. After firing at two parts fabricated on the wheel, my fears were confirmed. I have included a photo of my cookie made with only this clay fired on cone 04 at this point showing the pits were fired impurities. A good frosting will fill in these areas so I'm not worried but this product needs a good review.

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

I bought this clay because I needed more clay for my college pottery class. It arrived quickly and was a good price. I made the mistake of ordering ยฃ50 instead of ยฃ25 so now I'm stuck with a ton of extra clay. That's good because I bought a used high flame electric oven. The clay was not properly sealed in the pouch as if you bought it from the Lagoona Clay brand. The clay wasn't useless, but it almost hardened the skin, making it more difficult to use than fresh wet clay straight from a newโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Best in the Niche
Cons
  • I will add later

I've bought this clay several times, but only because I didn't know any better. yellow clay from Amako. This white is BEAUTIFUL. Great to throw. Shows frosting. i sincerely love it but it's designed to shoot way past the 5-6 cone. The optimal taper is 10. I couldn't figure out why I was having so much fuss with a 6 taper until I ordered yellow clay from Amako and followed the same firing schedule. My madness stopped when I switched to buff. I browsed the Amaco website, found a comparison chartโ€ฆ
