Review on ๐Ÿบ AMACO 45047J High-Fire Moist Stoneware Clay - 38 White: Exceptional Quality and Versatility by Karla Richter

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Plan to shoot up to a 10 cone if you don't want to go crazy. Or use a buff if you're a cone of 5-6 people.

I've bought this clay several times, but only because I didn't know any better. yellow clay from Amako. This white is BEAUTIFUL. Great to throw. Shows frosting. i sincerely love it but it's designed to shoot way past the 5-6 cone. The optimal taper is 10. I couldn't figure out why I was having so much fuss with a 6 taper until I ordered yellow clay from Amako and followed the same firing schedule. My madness stopped when I switched to buff. I browsed the Amaco website, found a comparison chart and decided it was time to switch to a buff. Buff is designed to fire on a 5-6 cone and has not had any issues with the Amaco Potters Choice glaze to date. So plan to shoot with 10 taper if you don't want to go crazy. Or use a buff if you're a cone of 5-6 people.

Pros
  • cool product
