External brass is good quality, but the internal counter-current device is no better than all plastic. I was hoping for a more professional unit like the larger ones I've installed in homes. Better buy at the plumbing store, the larger size is 1-1-1/2", and hammer it in if you have the space. I didn't because it was in the back of a closet in my RV.

Pros
  • Made from non-toxic, food-grade materials
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Check valve: easy installation and great performance!

I needed to replace my RV water heater and the block check valve was too bad to use with the new heater. My local RV shop didn't have a workable check valve (believe it or not). However, I placed an order and it arrived within two days. I wrapped it around the threads with lots of teflon tape (pipe lube would work too) and it works great! It was a very easy install and I am very happy with how it works.

Pros
  • IAPMO and NSF certified
Cons
  • Very expensive

RV Water Heater Check Valve (Solitude 2019)

Used to replace a weak plastic check valve that has snapped just behind the threads leading to the hot water outlet. I have a 12 gallon Suburban DSI WH and it fit perfectly when I stripped the plastic off the threads (really hard work). Do yourself a favor and check the back of your WH to see if it has a plastic check valve and replace it with a brass valve if it does. This also happened to a friend on his Solitude (although it's not unique to this model or Grand Design products). It's not…

Pros
  • Direct replacement for Marshall Brass and Hydronamic Products
Cons
  • Without Automatic
