Large Small Secondary Filter

I was looking for a secondary filter that would help keep the aquarium clean. I wanted something quiet and easy to install. I had to buy a pump for this filter. I'm very very happy with it. It's quiet (just the hum of the air pump). It was very easy to install - attach suction cups, attach pump hose, stick on tank; bright. The best filter for bettas!

This is the BEST filter I have used in my 10 gallon betta tank. I bought two. I used hanging rear filters, internal filters. Tetras in Marineland. If they were strong enough to keep the tank clean, my poor betta would end up sticking to it or losing its fins. Not with that bad boy. Great filter for beginners or experienced aquarists.

We have already purchased 2 Sinhala Sponge Filters. Plan to buy more in the near future. We live by their design. The only drawback, in my opinion, are the ceramic balls. They seem to be blocking the flow of water a bit. I'll take something else soon and try to report. We currently have a single sponge horizontal version in our 10 gallon and a single sponge vertical version in our 5.5 gallon quarantine tank. Nice works well with other media, doesn't hold up much. Has good flow and bubble flow.

Nice filter. The bubble flow from bottom to top is the best I've seen in filters of this type. The little balls that come with it are probably rubbish, I've seen how they can impede flow by being too steady and not letting water through. I filled it with pumice stone. Great sponge filter. I will buy again!

I'm new to sponge filters so I'm still observing and learning. I like to try different types of filters. But I lean more towards sponge filtration. I originally bought this for a small 5 gallon aquarium but ended up adding it to my overflowing 20 gallon guppy aquarium.
