Great size for practice.

The paper is nice and thick. Nice size, bright white. The only thing is is a BLOCK and it's harder for me to delete a separate page. But it's nice to work. I destroy the edges where I first try to separate them. I ordered this because I like WHITE and not white like most watercolor papers. So far, so good. I like it.

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Expensive

Good paper in art paper

Wanted to try hot press (smooth) to see if I can get more detailed results for plant images. I don't know if it works better for me than a cold press or Fabriano Artistico's "medium" press (can't remember what it's called, but it's not as rough as a cold press OR as smooth as a hot press ).

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Obsolete model

Why change something good?

Unfortunately, Fabriano recently changed the production process of Artistico hot-press paper (also Fabriano 5). Instead of the beautifully smooth surface we botanists used to depend on, it now has a rough texture that makes it difficult to capture precise detail. The change hasn't been announced and the packaging doesn't even give it away, so until you open it you don't know if you've got the good ol' stuff or the bad new stuff. There have been many complaints in the community so I hope this…

Ideal for making cards. Smooth for easy stamping. heavyweight.

Ideal for making postcards as that's what I do mostly. Delightfully smooth and thick hot pressed watercolor paper. Warm ivory. Ideal for stamping as it has minimal texture. Works well with large volumes of water or small volumes of water. Water-based mediums pair perfectly with this paper (Karin brush markers are the newest favorite, but any watercolor will do). Personally, I prefer Fabiano artisto's 140lb watercolor hot-pressed paper. NOTE: If you don't like watercolor paper that isn't bright…

Terribly deformed, very disappointing.

The whole point of block watercolor paper is to prevent puckering. Generally the paper will warp a little when very wet, even on the block, but if left to dry on the block it should straighten out again (again, that's the ALL point of the watercolor block). This paper can absorb very little water before warping and once warped IT REMAINS CRIPPED even if left to dry on the BLOCK overnight. I have CELLULOSE watercolor magazines that warp less and are cheaper. This is my first experience with…

Pros
  • Watercolor Paper
Cons
  • Slightly Wrinkled

Not as bright white as I was hoping, but it's just enough to work for what I like to use it for. All four sides are glued, with the top right corner leaving about an inch open in each corner, allowing you to easily separate the finished piece with a knife without fuss. The texture is pleasantly even, slightly textured (if you look really closely) but otherwise a nice smooth finish. This paper works well and isn't too dry for quickly absorbing water and living in Phoenix, which can be common…
