Cool router! in network products

Let's install this Christmas. I'm not a techie and installed it in about 30 minutes. It's not as hard as some reviews make it out to be. I couldn't connect to the (Asus) server to update the firmware at Christmas and have to try again. I think it was a busy day for her. It works great on both channels and is a huge improvement over our old router. We have a two story house with a basement that reaches both the top floor for the Xbox One and the basement for the iPad Mini. My Macbook Pro and my…

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • There are nuances

Firmware Self-Update

Use with Comcast Xfinity and consistently achieve over 125 Mbps throughput when using wireless AC. The wireless network N has reached a throughput of 40 Mbps. Firmware updates are evil. Wait a week or two before updating them and do it manually. Asus has a problem releasing firmware updates before they've been thoroughly tested. Both times I let my router download and install the firmware automatically, the router messed it up on its own. The second time I bricked up the entire router. I worked

BUYER BEWARE of routers

My previous router couldn't handle high speed internet like this. That's good, but I had an issue where one night while I was sleeping I somehow factory reset it. I woke up and was extremely upset as I have a smart home and am too dependent on my wifi. Otherwise it's a good router and I recommend it. Updated 2/14/18 (and downgraded from 5 stars to 1 star) The return window has closed and the router has stopped working. I bought this 4 months ago and it's already a useless thing totally useless.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Almost everything included

The only brand I will ever buy!

Asus is probably the only router brand I will ever buy. That's cool. I replaced my 802.11N router with this 801.11AC(1750) module and went from 6Mbps to almost 30Mbps in my living room. I'm looking for a second router to set up for a project. One of the nice things my friend likes about his Asus is that in the stock software there is a way to create a VPN (Virtual Private Network) natively. I'm not sure when Asus moved to this feature, but this router does. I wouldn't even bother with dd-wrt in

  • Makes me nervous

5G worked well. Basic testing done

Tried the latest version of ASUS FM 3602, 5G disappeared after the upgrade. When I went back to the version below (3.0.0.4.376.2524) I saw 5G again. Also tried the latest Merlin (which is based on 3.0.0.4.376_3677) and DD-WRT, 5G worked fine. 5G range was less than 2.4G, worked well. The router was warm but not hot. Now he was working as a repeater, so far so good. I also had a Netgear R6700. In my setup when I compare them side by side it looks like the R6700 has a little more coverage. Read…

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Pro works great with DD-WRT, works seamlessly with all my devices 50% better range and signal strength than my Verizon Actiontec Gen2 or my old WRTG54. The new AC mode achieves incredible speed. Which I wouldn't want in any product from SOHO router manufacturers, it should be simple and turnkey. - Subscribe to a service that automatically downloads and installs a firewall IP blacklist of known malware or command and control systems - Blacklist-like parental control options block the most common

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Great product except it gets a little warm

This is a really good router for home use. I came to this as a long time Linux user and really appreciate how it is based on open source software. The upshot of this is that this router is the beneficiary of many open source networking software efforts, and there are several alternative packages that can easily run on this machine if the underlying software doesn't suit your needs. Additionally, Asus has done a great job of laying an easy-to-use front end on one of the most solid foundations…

Pros
  • Always liked it
Cons
  • I won't say anything
