Fast Processor at a Bargain Price

My old Socket A has finally bitten the dust and I had another study semester ahead of me so I had to work on a budget. I am very happy with this little gem! This is my first dual core processor and I'm looking forward to going from 200-300 points a day Folding@Home[.] to 800-900 points a day! I also bought a GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P Socket AM2+/AMD 790X motherboard. The motherboard was a little expensive but it was worth it! I can easily overclock this processor on it. Right now I'm at 3.1GHz…

Pros
  • Excellent Overall Performance

Good processor for the money, much faster than the old Pentium/Althon

This is a very good processor for the money. Much, much faster than my other Pentiums and Athlone, and at only $50-60 it doesn't seem like a bargain. I can edit photos/videos, surf the web and burn CDs/DVDs with no problems (CPU between 50% and 60). Even with intensive multitasking, the heatsink stays cool thanks to the standard fan and doesn't even get hot. My configuration: - This processor - Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H Micro ATX motherboard - Corsair CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 XMS3 4GB PC3-12800 Core i5

Rugged Computers and Accessories

This processor has given me many hours of flawless performance. It runs cool, has plenty of processing power, and runs software designed for its bigger brothers like a pro. It's used to play an online game that recommends a 4-core processor, but I can use the bells and whistles with no problems even when set to a moderate power plan for only 2 cores via the OS. If your budget doesn't allow for a larger processor, this one is perfect for you.

Great little processor.

Easy to install and easy to overclock due to the high modifier. I've had the opportunity to play Mass Effect with all settings on High, Fallout 3 on Ultra High, and Crysis on Medium. Would be great in a HTPC build.

Pros
  • Fits many
Cons
  • Expensive

AMD dual core. $60 for internal components

This is my first AMD processor and I am very impressed with it. Installation was easy and works on many motherboards. It runs cool after overclocking 20% (3.36GHz) (35C) with the stock heatsink and fan. It also works well under load. I've used it to encode videos and it does it in one go, a full DVD in less than 20 minutes! I recommend it to anyone who wants to try AMD on a budget. A really GOOD processor.

Pros
  • Fine!
Cons
  • Annoying

As advertised. - Computers and Accessories

This processor is a basic dual-core processor. It works as advertised. It came in a standard padded envelope with bubble wrap and foam padding for contacts. I was able to bring an old computer with an AM3 connection back to life without any problems. No bent pins or paste residue. Good price and fast delivery.

Pros
  • Keeping my fists
Cons

Good bang for the buck!

This processor is a great buy if you're looking for a no-frills, inexpensive processor. 2 cores. Good speed and great price combined with low power consumption. Ideal for everyday web browsing, office and even gaming. For serious gaming, get a 4-core Athlon or Phenom.

Pros
  • nice stuff
