💨 Efficient Pressure Control: Atwood 91604 Relief Valve Review

Replaced the stock shut off valve in my 6 gallon Atwood water heater. The old valve opened before the water was hot. Fits perfectly, does not leak and does not open prematurely. The only thing that interested me was that the dipstick wasn't pressed against the block as hard as the old one. It's unthreaded as I twisted it while trying to tighten it, which is why I think it's designed that way. I replaced this, made sure I followed the instructions to restore the air gap in my water heater and it still cried as the heater neared max temp. I spoke to my RV repairman and he mentioned whether or not there is an air gap. Perfect for my Atwood water heater, my old one was badly rusted and the spring inside was worn out and just didn't close fully so it leaked like a waterfall after the water was only half hot and it shut itself off, because the water will put out the fire. So if you have that $25 problem just replace it and see what happens, it could just be old and rusty and not staying closed all the way and maybe solve the problem.
