I usually do things that require a square and sometimes a 4 inch scale is too small and a 36 inch square is too much of good. I like this size. I can use it on my desktop and don't have to spend half an hour setting up and taking down a garage workbench to get five minutes of work done.

This is not a proper framing square. It's not long enough in either direction. One side is 4 inches, the long side is about 12 inches.
