Decent tach for little money

Great tach, easy install, good product filling a niche in the market. It's not too much, but it's not ridiculously small either. It only hits 6,000 rpm, which is really all most people need. There were virtually no other 6000 rev counters to choose from. I just want to have a tachometer so I know how fast the engine is running and where it's shifting. I don't need flashing lights and LEDs or the 11000 range. When I rev my fairly average car to 9000 rpm I don't need a tachometer to tell me how…

I was looking for a used speedometer, but didn't want to put one on my truck with a ridiculous number of miles. The Autometer was larger than similar speedometers, but more closely matched the standard cluster and standard speedometer range. Since I don't have a factory clock I used clock power, ground and a dimmer to wire the speedo. I connected the speedometer signal wire to the wire…

Convenient small size, works great day and night

This tachometer was originally intended for transmission control, checking slip in mountainous areas and when towing a load. This was very helpful in identifying the occasional engine roar that was being caused by a fan clutch engaging and not a transmission issue. This later helped determine the loss of torque converter lockup due to a faulty throttle position sensor. With a transmission that was factory set to hide shift points, it was helpful to know when the transmission shifted, what gear…
