Defective battery on the pump for pumping

Added battery acid and burned the battery, our house smelled of sulphur. We thought we had a gas leak in the basement. Don't buy this. The gas man said it happened often.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Dubious purchase for the elderly

DO NOT BUY. ACID NOT INCLUDED. Plastic box for $109

$109 doesn't get you the acid you need and it's not clearly/explicitly stated. My plumber bought a bigger/better battery for half the price at Lowe's. If you read the FAQ, people say that the acid they found is worth more than that useless plastic box. Basically, you're buying a plastic box here for $109.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Can't remember

Comes dry so acid is needed.

Fits older standby watchdog pumps that require a vented battery. This battery should be used if you have an older Watchdog system that charges and recharges the battery. Maintenance-free batteries should not be used in older devices. The price is a bit steep for an old-style vented design, but you don't have a choice unless you decide to swap out the entire system.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Requires Socket

Thinking of buying acid and you may need a sensor cap

Delivered well, just what I needed. That's it. I needed a special cover for the battery sensor, it was not included with the battery. I wrote to basement security and they mailed me one for free. Their customer service was great just don't understand why they didn't just pop one of these caps in the original box.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small house
Cons
  • Almost never

Battery is fine but system is questionable

My reviews reflect system performance, not just battery. I ended up replacing the Battery Watchdog (BWD) backup drain pump system that was in my house when I bought it with a homemade 12VDC inverter battery with a conventional 1/3 HP 120VAC drain pump. . Turns out the original BWD system (claimed 1/3 HP) couldn't pump 3.5 GPM at 10.9 feet of lift. The new system pumps 28 gpm with the same stroke. The declared capabilities of the BWD system are greatly overestimated. SO,. The battery is fine…

Pros
  • Build Quality
Cons
  • Frequency
