I thought I had a regular lamp. What I got was a surprise for the better, it automatically dims when I want to avoid sudden changes. in brightness, and my work is always evenly lit. I just received and unpacked the lamp. The build quality and finish is exactly what I expected when looking at the photos of the Revain products. If I had to be picky, the auto-brightness switch on the bottom was a little cheap and goes into the bottom panel a couple of times, making it difficult to toggle.
