I bought two of these about a year ago and they seem to be working fine. I saw a bulge in the seam of one (the newest) recently. I unplugged it to use the boat and when I plugged it back in there was a puff of smoke. I checked and reconnected all connections. This time there was a bang, more smoke and a small fire. I'm glad I was there, otherwise I might have lost the boat. I know it's out of warranty, but they shouldn't be dangerous. I'll check the other one for dents.

Having used two of these devices in the past I was dying to have this new updated module. The device works fine but this summer we had a lot of rain in Alaska and I noticed that a little water got into the small green charged LED, you can see the green light and the water droplets inside in the picture. . I used their solar cell, trickle and now I've added 800. Since I'm a while I've been using their products and haven't had to buy a new one, I was concerned when when I first connected it I only saw a red light on the charger 800, not yellow because I'm used to seeing 3 lights ( Green means it is fully charged, yellow means it needs to be charged and red means the battery is low).
