PLANISHING HAMMER: This shaping tool is used for a metalworking technique that involves finishing the surface by finely shaping and smoothing sheet metal. This is done by hammering against a shaped surface while held in a vise or against an anvil. METALSMITHING TOOL: A 9-inch wooden handle is the base for this two-sided hammer. The 80mm steel head weighs 6.7oz, with the large domed and flat faces measuring 23mm, perfect for working over larger pieces, such as plates, bowls or cups. GET CREATIVE: Use our planishing hammer to shape and smooth the surface of gold, silver, brass, stainless steel, and other metals. Use it to create custom made earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and rings. This hammered style creates a unique aesthetic for housewares, decorative art or a hand-crafted look. GREAT FOR ALL SKILL LEVELS: These metalworking techniques can be forgiving, making them great for beginners and professionals alike. Doesn't bite

Good hammer for a DIY tool. The surface didn't seem to "bite" into the metal like my other hammer.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Beautifully Designed - Jewelery Hammers

Beautifully designed (made in Pakistan) - feels well balanced in the hand - and I'm guessing it weighs around 4 ounces. Head with well polished faces

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Requires Socket

Fine Grinding Hammer

I have used this hammer to finish grind a copper shell and have had very satisfactory results. Again, the handle could have been a bit heavier, but it's quite satisfactory for the price.

Pros
  • Quality Construction
Cons
  • Appearance

Good hammer head, cheap wooden handle

The handle often slips out of the hammer head, or after a while the cheap wooden handle just breaks in the hammer head itself. Good hammer, cheap wooden handle; Go and buy a good quality wooden pencil.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Don't know

Works great as a new addition to the other five others.

Perfectly complements the five other models she has. She used it today on a small piece of railroad track that she uses as an anvil. She likes it, so I like it too.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not sure

Poor quality

Both sides of the hammer were pitted. So it's useless! When you polish silver with a gouge hammer, gouges will transfer to your metal and leave marks on the surface. The grip was also loose. I got it back on credit and bought a nice flat hammer at a jewelry store, which reminded me once again that you get what you pay for!

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • A newer model could have been chosen
