Thetford antifreeze toilet valve

Thetford motorhome toilets have an unfortunate water inlet valve design: they are almost guaranteed to burst before freezing: some water remains in the valve when the water system is drained; and this piece of water breaks the valve. And it can't be fixed; replacement only. I have repaired and replaced Thetford OEM valves twice. This Beech Lane replacement water valve has a slightly different design and the company says it's frost resistant. I think it will, although I haven't used it in…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Exact replacement for Thetford 31705

I won't know until heavier freezes hit but according to this spec it would have prevented the leak I experienced after a recent freeze in Texas. This is definitely the case where it fits perfectly and works great. I read a comment that mentioned it might use more water per flush than the original, but this confuses me as the amount of water used depends on how long the valve is open, which is up to the user - it is not like a home restroom in that sense. The only suggestion I can make is to…

1000% better than the original Thetford

I fitted this Beech Lane 31705 water valve assembly for Thetford Magic V toilets to a Zinger Z1 trailer and it has caused nothing but heartache and annoyance from day one. The toilet started leaking badly again for the 3rd time in 5 years and I was back at the dealer claiming they should replace these valves for free as the factory originals are junk when I heard the service center guy online with the techs Talked about parts and ordered this valve because it is so much better. Well I saved…

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Not sure

We had problems with a leaking water module on the back of our Thetford Magic V RV toilet. At the time of the renovation, our toilet was nine years old. All Thetford toilets (so I'm told) require you to touch the toilet to change this valve. Some choose to replace the entire (plastic) toilet, but we chose to replace the module. This was our first time doing this DIY job and we learned a few lessons! Once the toilet has been raised it is easy to replace the valve and there are YouTube videos to…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from the testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
