I bought a Sunbeam Ultrasonic Humidifier which works fine except it needs water treatment tablets to prevent limescale build up and white film in the room. The problem was that tablets are almost impossible to find in stores or online. I bought this product, poured two full capfuls into the water tank and now my furniture is limescale and white film free. It is also much cheaper compared to tablets. There are no complaints about this.

This thing works by holding minerals in a viscous mass at the bottom of the humidifier, rather than ejecting them through the mist. That means you still need to periodically empty the bottom of the humidifier. However, the sticky mass (for lack of a better description) can be washed off very easily. I use reverse osmosis filtered water with a TDS of only 18, so maybe my opinion is too skewed. Take this with a grain of salt if you have very dirty tap water.

Bought on recommendation from a friend who said it removes the white dust that has built up on literally everything in the house when I use my ultrasonic humidifier. Even after several weeks of using this product, and even using more products, I didn't notice any difference in the amount of dust I needed to remove from my home on a daily basis. This product may work well for other purposes, but it did not help me fully control or fix the issue I was having.

so I bought another product from this company that wasn't for cold mist humidifiers. This one says yes. I've used it for a week and haven't noticed any difference in the humidifier staying cleaner longer. The way it reads it should stop the white dust. I have already solved this problem by using filtered water. So I can't say for sure if it stops white dust, but I can say it doesn't stop pink dirt from forming in the humidifier.
