Exactly what I was looking for

This knife is exactly what I was looking for - a grapefruit knife like we had when we were kids. Cuts without much effort and grapefruits are easy to eat with every teaspoon. That little protrusion on the blade? It's designed to cut peel strips that can be used as garnishes in things like desserts and smoothies.

Pros
  • Good product for the price

  • Broadly ok but...

Efficient design by Better Houseware

Our family loves to eat grapefruit every morning and over the years we've tried all kinds of cookware to make it easier to prepare. This particular design is the most effective we've found, as the double-ended tines quickly cut the fruit into sections and the curved tip easily rips the fruit from the skin. The Better Houseware Grapefruit Knife has worked great in our home. Definitely recommended.

Works Grape - I mean Great

With a little attention, you can get a whole side of the Great - I mean grapefruit peeled from the skin with this knife. You have chosen how much seasoning should be included. Then place the grapefruit on a cutting board and cut it with a regular knife. Forgot spoon. This makes it so easy to have grapefruit on-demand. Place the grapefruit in the fridge before slicing and voila, instant chilled grapefruit. This knife is the best I've ever owned.

Exactly what I was looking for the perfect grapefruit knife.

I like this curved knife. When I was growing up, we had grapefruit knives. I always ate the whole grapefruit. I don't jump between sections. This curved knife is ideal for peeling fruit from the skin. I can't comment on durability as I've only used it once. Works great and cuts very well. I bought two of these because I don't know what's going on with the cutlery in this house. I think it was accidentally moved to the trash. It was such a good price if I need to buy more I don't mind. You can't

Hardly usable as a grapefruit knife

Wherever else a Better Houseware grapefruit knife is used, it hardly ever functions as a grapefruit knife. Slicing half a grapefruit is a relatively precise task. A sharp, serrated blade allows you to work quickly and easily. How a new serrated knife can become dull is a mystery, but this one was out of the box and needed sharpening. Using a sharp knife, the meat is carefully cut from the thick skin of each section and rarely cut. through the membrane. The correct result is a series of slices…

How to use this amazing knife

Excellent. I just couldn't be more grateful to finally be able to give up the grapefruit knife I inherited 20 years ago. How to eat grapefruit at home. An old-school method taught to me by my father, who was born and raised in Manhattan. It's a little snobbish, but classy. To be honest it takes some practice and skill to get the membrane between the parts properly. I learned when I was 10. This is my way, you can go or leave it. Hello grapefruit! 1. Cut in half with the stem to the side. Do not

Works great with grapefruit but has many more uses.

Although this grapefruit knife is great for cutting grapefruit slices, I've found many other uses for it. I cut the peppers in half lengthwise, leaving the stalk and use this knife to cut the part behind the stalk and remove any membranes and seeds. This leaves each pepper half open for additional ingredients. I prefer red peppers for this as they are sweeter, but green peppers can also be used. Steam the pepper halves for 3 minutes to soften and lay flat. If your peppers are big enough, you…
