Tractor hood: brazing and soldering equipment

Bought this primarily to fix a cracked hood on my tractor. This car suits me, I welded a plastic hood. I'm holding out for now.

Pros
  • This plastic welding hot air gun is suitable for repairing plastic products such as truck curtains, tarpaulins, swimming pool liners/membranes, water tanks, kayaks, vinyl floors, car bumpers, etc. A useful tool for any panel welder. .

Works well but needs more detailed instructions

The welder did a good job and did his job well. The main issue I had was that the instructions on how to use the welder were very limited in the booklet that came with the welder. It is highly recommended that customers go to YouTube and watch one or more videos on how to use this welder.

Car was upgraded while parked

I ordered a plastic welding machine hoping it would come to my truck repair would help. it had a trailing end and the fender and headlight were broken. When I started welding the pieces together I didn't know what to expect. It took another week and a half before it was sent to the body shop, during which time all the parts I had welded were still together and solid as rock. This is a great welder. I recommend everyone who does this type of work to own this welder.

Cheap fake, good for some jobs

This looks like a cheap copy of a more expensive Leister model. As others have pointed out, the temperature control is very finicky. It makes a quick transition from cold to full heat in a fraction of a turn. (If you know your way around, this can be partially solved by replacing the 330K potentiometer with a 100K potentiometer, or simply connecting a 100K resistor across two wires. Another option is to connect it to the wattmeter leaving it plugged in so you can make any fine-tuningโ€ฆ
