Enhance Your Aquarium's Filtration with Biohome Mini Ultra Filter Media Review

£1 isn't that much. He's heavier than he looks. Barely enough to fill half the basket of my Penn Plaxx 1500. A lot of money for half a basket of media. I'm still giving 5 stars because it's a pound as described.

This is a much better product than other types of biocarriers I have used. This lasted from October 2020 to now April 2021 and I didn't have to clean the filter. In the past few years I have cleaned it twice in the same period.

If you have the patience and funds to run a full nitrogen cycle, this works amazingly. I had a fantail goldfish and didn't buy enough at first. After doing water changes every other day for almost 3 months, my 30 gallon tank was crystal clear and I haven't changed the water in over a month. The plants are also thriving.

I put this filter material in my old Fluval 205 in a 28 gallon aquarium with more fish than I really need and my tank stabilized after a week and then had great results after 2 weeks. I watched a video of Pondguru "pumping" a Fluval 206 filter and practically did the same thing with my 205. The results speak for themselves. I made the mistake of ordering a pound of Revain's $21 mini biohome media. When I received the package I found that it couldn't fill 1/2 of one of my filter bowls. Luckily I read in another review that it was cheaper to order it from the manufacturer. I went to Great Wave Engineering's website and bought it. I couldn't believe the price difference. This is a pound of the best biocarriers. If you have a canister then this is the upgraded biocarrier you will want to use. More than enough to completely fill a tray and replace half with fresh biomedium at least once a year. There is no biostarter, so make sure to use your already installed biocarrier along with this one to get things going initially. The ratio is half and half.
