This item really didn't require much mechanical skill to install. I chose to attach it with screws instead of rivets as shown in the pictures. Secure lock, keys/programming were seamless, uses previous buyer's recommendation, 1/4" x 3/4" stainless steel screws to use with nylon lock nuts since I didn't have a large rivet gun. Installation took a while since I couldn't use a wrench in the holes, so I changed a cheap furniture wrench to 7/16.11mm to bite the nuts (oops) off the inside of the cross brace. The hood lock works great and matches the display! There are reviews on here that say someone can reach the lock and slide the hood latch off the latch lever. I have a 2014 Wrangler and once installed I don't see the option to do what they claim. As others have mentioned, the installation can be a bit tricky. I think it would be a lot easier if you had the right rivet gun to use the rivets that come with it, but I have a winch on the front of my jeep and it shouldn't have been to make the gap wide enough to remove the grille, to use the riveting tool. This needs to be modified (and I'll show the solution I came up with) if you want to install it on a Wrangler manual transmission (if you want the complete safety part of the mind ). I suspect the transmission cooler for the automatic transmission makes accessing this lock much more difficult.
