Decent camera for the money.

For a budget rear view camera this works very well. Installation was easy. It comes with a hole saw drill bit to mount it flush. I connected it to an Alpine stereo head unit. It's not a high-definition camera, but it's worth what you pay for it.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

A camera to fall in love with

I had another camera installed on my SUV but the night vision was terrible. This one is much better (rated at 1 lumen) but still not the best in low light. I think it would be better if I installed it on the outside of the tailgate, but since I have a smooth hatch I didn't want anything sticking out. During the day the camera works great with good clarity and sharpness of objects. I have a built in rear view mirror monitor and it works fine. Remember this is not a night vision IR camera.

Pros
  • Rear view cameras
Cons
  • The list is getting long.

Great car camera and car electronics

I bought this camera to add a backup camera function to my 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid with factory navigation box and this thing works great. It looks great during the day. It's a bit dark at night, but that's not a big deal as the car comes with LED reverse lights. I highly recommend that all Camry owners with factory navigation get this camera and install it in their car. This makes the backup much safer and adds modern functionality to an old car. I would buy again if needed.

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • Some nuances

always gave flickering signal/phase issues

I am rating this low because I had trouble getting it to work well. I installed it in my factory navigation system in a Toyota Camry where I connected it to the brake light for power and to the harness connectors for video input. I made several connection attempts and the picture was always noisy, black and white, or flickering with out-of-phase colors. Something was wrong. I'm guessing cameras as I'm pretty good at wiring and checked it out a few times. I think I should try the Eclipse camera…
