This item works well. I even cut up raw potatoes for her. I've found that one strong, quick press the first time is all you need. I would recommend that the manufacturer add another cutting plate with a thinner blade to allow for finer slicing of vegetables like onions and peppers. Even the smallest slicing blade cuts it into fairly large chunks, and while it says it's an onion slicer, that's not exactly what you get. I really like this chopper. I eat a lot of salads and soups and this chopper has been my lifesaver. It comes with three different blades that are easy to change and clean. I like the small blade for chopping all veggies for salads, and the large knife is great for larger batches of soup.
