Here is my setup procedure: Out of the box. Remove the tape and packing pads. Insert paper. Connect it. Click on the WiFi password on the small touch screen. Did! All my Apple items including laptops, phones and iPads see it as a printer. Printing works great. Super easy and the only cord is the power cord. I like it. It's also fast and quiet. It warms up quickly and ejects pages when it boots up, then silently goes to sleep.

Every time I want to print I have to reinstall this printer. Just setting up a Wi-Fi network doesn't even seem to work, I have to go through the whole process. Big disappointment! I've googled a bit and other people have posted possible solutions to this seemingly common problem that I'll try. But it shouldn't be my fault, even if they work, Brother should provide clear instructions on how to avoid this problem right out of the box.

I bought this printer in mid 2017 with the additional legal size paper tray. It was a workhorse. It connects easily to Wi-Fi and prints from both Mac and Windows computers. Tonic lasts a long time. I've used both generic and brother brands. Brother's was better, but for what I needed, a non-branded printer was fine. I bought this printer and an optional paper tray (from another source) so I can print on a variety of paper sizes on the fly - both letter and legal. Very happy with the quality and speed of the HL-L6300dw. I print a lot of PDFs containing charts, images and text for academic and business purposes. Every page I've printed so far looks great. Text is crisp and dark and shadows appear better than on my other printers (HP LaserJet MFP m425 and Lexmark X548 color laser). The Brother driver is very good.
