Product works great in the prep room

These fiberglass inserts are suitable for the prep room. I looked for Prep Pens, saw them and took a chance. They fit perfectly in the Prep Pen. Excellent rust remover for metal in preparation for finishing/painting.

Much more fragile than the original brushes

These replacement brush heads are much less durable than the original heads I received with the pen. They usually easily separate and break off large chunks of fiber with light use. They wear out very quickly and aren't strong enough to work well.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Minor issues

Too hard and brittle

Very disappointed! They don't look like red pens at all. The bristles seem fused and not flexible at all. This inflexibility causes them to become very rough when cleaning delicate items, as well as breaking the bristles and flying all over the place. I don't recommend them if you need something that cleans cleanly and without damage.

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not sure

Better than the one with the brush

I bought an expensive scratch brush which has "Germany" written on the side here. The included brush wore out completely after a few uses on the board. This replacement pack says "Made in Germany" and fits the brush handle I bought. However, the quality of these refills is far superior to the original. The original will quickly fall apart and turn into fiberglass dust. They seem to be much more durable and I notice far less dirt and fiberglass residue with use. I will update the review if…

Ideal for cleaning delicate and intricate parts.

Very effective on all types of difficult and delicate surfaces. I use them primarily to clean metal surfaces before soldering, but I've also used them to give smooth plastic and metal surfaces some "tooth" before painting. Very efficient. Just keep the fiberglass threads away from skin, eyes, etc. and never inhale. I work with a fiberglass brush in one hand and a high quality vacuum cleaner head in the other to pick up bristles that break off by the thousands.

Pros
  • Metal tips for increased durability
Cons
  • Some bugs

Electrical & Electronics Required Items

I learned about scraper brushes in the military and use them all the time at home. I bought these pens for my Precista and they fit perfectly. I use them to clean electrical connections in all battery powered devices at home, on a motorcycle and boat. Clean the connectors, apply some dielectric grease to the metal and put everything back together. I also use it when soldering to get to bare metal. They also do an excellent job of removing corrosion from leaking batteries. This pack of high…

Great tool! Fiberglass Scratch Brush

I have to say this product is excellent and better than other products on the market. The bristles are a bit stiffer than other brushes, which gives them an advantage as they resist scratches well. I use replacement tips for my original Radio Shack scratch tool and buying German made products is a luxury these days. The brushes are great for finishing work and I use them to polish off the oxidation on HO locomotives and also to get the tracks nice and shiny before soldering the track work on my

Pros
  • Ideal for hard to reach areas, electronics, rust and corrosion removal
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
