Cheaper than alternatives and works great

I use this to connect my USB-C laptop to my external monitor, ethernet, power, keyboard and mouse all with one cable. HDMI version and DisplayPort version. The HDMI version has faster network and USB ports. It says it can only run at 3840 x 2160 at 30Hz, but it also seems to work well at 3440 x 1440 at 60Hz, which is what my Dell 21:9 ultra wide monitor uses. The DisplayPort version can work with 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz but my monitor doesn't need it. The HDMI version also has a slightly longer…

Complete Failure - DVI-HDMI Adapter

This USB-C hub is a complete failure. The USB 3.0 ports I tried for the mouse and keyboard go in and out every few minutes. When connected directly to a laptop, they work perfectly. While debugging, I was moving the mouse quickly and erratically, as if I was experiencing disconnects every few* seconds while typing. in the concentrator. Also, I have to plug/unplug the device 2-3 times before the HDMI connection is recognized. I haven't tested Ethernet yet and I won't. I bought it a few months…

Best budget (<$100) USB-C multiport device I've tested.

This cable matters USB C multiport device works reliably with the HP Specter x360. It offers power, HDMI output, Ethernet and 2 USB 3.0 ports. I tried several other USB-C multiport devices, but none of them woke up after the computer went to sleep and woke up again. The Ethernet and USB 3 ports on this Cable Matters device work great. The HDMI connection works better than any other I've tested. However, there were some cases where the external monitor did not receive a signal after the computer

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast

Requires direct power, constant reboots and crashes

HDMI output only works when a USB-C power adapter is connected directly to this adapter. If it is connected to the computer separately or the computer is only running on battery power, it will not work. Most of the time, HDMI doesn't deliver video even when directly powered (although the computer shows a connected external monitor) and multiple reboots are required to fix the problem. Disconnecting and reconnecting the device about 5 times usually fixes the problem. When the adapter loses…

Update: Worked for a month and stopped charging

Update 2: Got a replacement from Revain. The replacement charges the laptop, but some USB accessories don't work when plugged in (tried both USB ports). I decided to try the original adapter again and now it charges my laptop but only when the USB-C cable is plugged in one way. If you rotate it, it stops working. I'm leaving 2 stars for now because the original adapter works. Will update when the laptop stops loading again. All in all I am very disappointed with this product. Update 1: This…

  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

This has been my workhorse since the pandemic began - my "Doc" was left at the office which was closed is. Before that, they were rarely used. Bought in 2018. It still works fine. I'm not entirely sure about the performance. It seems to power a 2016 15-inch MacBook Pro well (the battery doesn't drain even under heavy use), but plugging in a charger directly charges it faster. Not that big of a problem if the laptop spends most of its time on the network. Port layouts range from convenient to…

but it seems to work great. My main system is a 2017 Apple MacBook.

I only used this at night after work, but seems to work great. My primary system is my 2017 Apple MacBook Pro 15 with Touch Bar. I really need this so I can free up some of my other USB-C ports. I've populated all the jacks on this one - Ethernet, HDMI and 2x USB 3. They all run on system power and I didn't have to plug in a charger. I turned off the power for about 2 hours and used everything without power and then plugged in the power to charge my laptop. We'll see how it works, but so far so

Cons
  • Cable shorter than others

Short story. I've been using this adapter as a dock replacement for a few months. It worked fine with my BIOS version 1.8.0. (I'm having trouble with BIOS version 1.6.3.) I just plug in my computer and my monitor, keyboard, sound, and power supply work. It sleeps and wakes up. And it works with closed or open laptop. When I restart I get a warning that the power output is 40w and not the 45w my computer can max out, but it works and charges the battery well. Buyer information: When you buy this
