We have found a major flaw in the G1100 which Canon has been unable to fix for the last several years. The new series (2100) is better, the old series (9050) is also better. The 1100s were Canon's way of cutting corners and making things worse. Red Enhance is needed when someone is writing in red ink. If you haven't turned on Red Boost, the red ink will disappear! Our office bought this scanner after using two Epson GT-S50. Older scanners loaded from the top, about 75 documents (if you were lucky) and often got stuck. We chose this scanner because it scans forwards and backwards at 100 pages per minute, has stop-before-jam capabilities and allows you to leave 500 pages in the document feeder. This is a five star scanner as long as it works, but when it fails Canon doesn't do anything to solve the problem and becomes a one-star scanner after that.
