Given my vision problems, I paid for the most important feature for me. This is the so-called Smart ID Stamp. The orientation is only correctly engraved on a few letters. Not one - not one! - The numbers are engraved in the appropriate place as indicated. If you want an easy way to find the right stamp and alignment, this is not the set to buy. I bought these to stamp codes on brass keys and they work great. The stamps are well made, coated with a thin layer of oil to prevent rusting and square cut. They match my HPC SA-7 Alignment Tool perfectly which is what I was really hoping for. I used a light tap with a 3 pound hammer to do a test hit and each letter was clear and perfectly formed. I wasn't sure how they would work but decided to give them a try before spending $60-80 on a set of HPC or Young Bros stamps. I'm glad I did;

I practiced on a piece of wood first, and the key is to use a small hammer and tap lightly two or three times. I checked the carpenter's hammer, which is difficult to control.
