Description of Cardone 21 5879 Remanufactured Power Steering

As a remanufactured Original Equipment part, this unit guarantees a perfect vehicle fit. All critical components (cam packs, spool valves, etc.) are triple-tested to ensure product reliability; Units are supplied with 100% tested and calibrated pressure relief valves. All units are built with 100% new O-rings and premium-grade HNBR seals to prevent leaks; HNBR does not break down at high temperatures like conventional seal material. Shafts are surfaced to precise specifications to eliminate premature seal wear and extend pump life; Final pump assembly is computer-tested to measure pressure, bypass, fluid flow, valve operation, steering effort and noise to ensure reliable performance. Our remanufacturing process is earth-friendly, as it reduces the energy and raw material needed to make a new part by 80%.

Too good to be true

Bought to replace my Land Cruiser 96's power steering pump. My shop was reevaluating and this remodeled unit was a significant savings. Turns out it will end up costing more than a new one alone. The technicians in the workshop could not get this recuperator to properly regulate the pressure even after disassembling it for testing. I ended up paying for a new one, a store job to try and get the recovery box working, and a recovery box since I missed the return window. Well, the lesson is…

Pros
  • Pumps
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
