It takes a long time to clean. We put it in a 5 gallon bucket and ran water through it for an hour then put it in. It took 3 days to clean so be patient then we went and bought a cheap filter at walmart and an hour later started rinsing the pads On the 3rd day and 4th morning everything was clear and looking amazing !

Amazing substrate! Super easy to clean and looks great! I have had or have 7 different Caribbean sands/gravels and never rinsed them out before putting them in the aquarium. Add sand or gravel straight into the tank, fill with water, then run fish free cycles and the water never got cloudy or cloudy because I didn't rinse before adding to the tank. Rinse the substrate before placing in the aquarium if you wish, the choice is yours but I have never done this and have never had a problem.

Bought this 50 lb bag for my 55 gram freshwater aquarium boy how good the white sand is! The grains are the same size, there are a few black grains in them, but very, very small that when you look at them as a whole, you can't see them until you look closely. I bought this for use in a 220 gallon aquarium. Half of the pack was enough for my aquarium. I thought it would be a little lighter, but it's only a little lighter than the box it came in. Love how thin and soft it is, corridors love it! I ordered the color of the sun (white was not available at the time). The problem I have is that it discolours fairly quickly between gravel suckers. I got it about 1 1/2 inches deep and when I vacuum up the gravel the sand is not at the top and is an odd gray color. I vacuum gravel weekly/fortnightly. This sand is beautiful and incredibly soft! There used to be a dark substrate, but I decided to switch to this one. Sand is sand but I've dealt with quite a few and this one really is softer than any other IME aquarium sand.
