Description of 🛢️ Carter Fuel Pump Module Assembly P75040M

Built to meet or exceed OEM fit and reliability and 100% factory tested and approved. Includes patented Clean Screen strainer, which provides up to 40% greater dirt-holding capacity than the next-best competing strainer, providing longer life with less clogging. Solid silver fuel sender contact design provides better electrical conductivity, extending sender contact life while providing resistance to corrosive fuel blends and additives. Armatures are over molded for optimum balance and long life, reducing turbulence with added wire protection. Most applications include the necessary accessories such as tank seals, patented high-gradient density strainers, and wiring harnesses.

Pump came disassembled

Ordered for my 98 Cherokee. I know Carter makes great pumps but I was very disappointed when I took mine apart. The bottom plate/filter is not attached, they are usually riveted, and the spring that pressurizes the pump is also not attached. My situation was sort of an emergency and I couldn't wait for another pump to show up, so I got it working by drilling and riveting the base and ripping apart the top assembly to get the spring in place. I've spent a lot of time with this, but so far it…

Great quality replacement to date

I installed this on my '98 Jeep XJ it replaced the OEM build with 259,000 miles on the clock. Of course I'd happily agree to a Mopar replacement, but I'll never pay triple that for it, especially if it's not a very expensive repair. If you live in a rust belt it would probably be wise to get a new set of tank straps as you will likely have to cut out the old ones. Be smart and empty the tank as much as possible before attempting to remove it. The pump unit works. excellent so far and has been…

1998 Jeep Cherokee XJ Fuel Pump and Tank Strap

Took me less than three hours to remove the tank and install a new fuel pump = Carter P75040M $114.29. You MUST also order new tank straps from Revain = Spectra Premium ST164 $26.31 Tank hanger bolts (supplied new with strap) can be sheared in minutes with a hacksaw blade using the Milwaukee HackZall. He gave no sparks like a cutting wheel. Forget trying to turn the nuts on the belt clip, the bars are rusty and cannot be removed. Use tape to secure the rubber from your old straps in about six…

So far so good: Spare parts

They sent the pump in retail packaging which wasn't very good. The box literally fell into my hands because the pump was in a good "air cushion" and was in perfect working order. The latest XJ jeeps don't have an external fuel filter, it's built into the check valve which is on top of the pump (pictured) which has failed on mine. During operation the pressure was good, but as soon as the engine was stopped it dropped to 0. This makes it spin much longer at start after idling for a while because

1998 XJ. So far, so good.

I installed this with my father and father in law about a month ago which made the process more enjoyable. This part ultimately wasn't the problem I was trying to fix (which turned out to be the crankshaft position sensor) but has run out of it since I bought the car three years ago. So glad this got off the to do list and that it greatly improved long run/second run conditions which I thought were just endemic to the motor since I bought it. Now it is starting! It's amazing what working check…
